It’s no secret smartphones, tablets, laptops and other gadgets continue to grow in popularity becoming, for many, an essential part of everyday life. But just how essential are these online-powered tools? With an average of four devices per person, it is clear Americans appreciate and embrace their technology. We took a look at the three most popular devices in the U.S. to determine which mobile technology Americans love the most.

1) Laptops

Laptop computers are by far the most popular device owned by Americans. A 2013 Gallup survey of U.S. adults showed 64% owned a laptop computer. This number rises to 95% when talking about early adopters of mobile technology. The use of the Internet and computers has truly woven its way into the fabric of daily life; according to Pew, eight in 10 U.S. adults (81%) say they use laptop and desktop computers somewhere in their lives—at home, work, school or someplace else. Whether using a laptop for work or fun, laptops play an important part in the life of the average America.

To keep our customers connected, Frontier retail centers have become one-stop shops, offering several devices for the home – including laptops – for sale along with our super-fast Internet service. Customers are now able to enjoy the convenience of purchasing a new laptop, such as the DELL Inspiron Laptop LED Display with Microsoft Office, at the same time they sign up for high-speed internet service from Frontier.

2) Smartphones

According to a January 2014 survey by Pew Internet, 58% of American adults own a smartphone. Americans don’t just own a smartphone—we are addicted to them! A separate Pew Internet survey discovered that:

  • 44% of cell owners have slept with their phone next to their bed to make sure they don’t miss any calls or text messages while asleep.
  • 29% agreed their cell phones are “something they can’t imagine living without.”

Each year, innovative new smartphone products are released, providing consumers with many different options and features to choose from. The same is true for home and cordless phone technology. 3) Tablets

It is clear smartphones reign supreme, but the popularity of tablet computers isn’t far behind. According to Pew Internet , 42% of U.S. adults own tablet devices. The convenient size and dimensions of tablets make them an ideal match for consumers looking to browse the Internet, update their social networks, stream their favorite shows on Netflix and iTunes, or read a book online. Pull double duty with your tablet by adding a compatible keyboard, turning it into a tablet/laptop hybrid.
